Within the framework of redesigning the station facilities of DB AG, the Leipzig HBF, as a pilot project, was supposed to introduce the commencement of station repairs throughout Germany. The conversion and repair work for the total facility includes the repair of the transverse platform hall including the installation of the DLZ (service centre), the basic renewal of the longitudinal platform halls as well as the installation of the multi-storey car park east in the area of the hall VI and side hall east.
