Construction as an adventure - Innovative procedures in view of stable schedules and costs

Dipl.-Ing. Norbert Luft, Head of Project Management Service Department at SSF Ingenieure, shares views about risk management with Prof. Konrad Bergmeister and Dipl.-Ing. Philip Sander.

Germany’s rapidly increasing infrastructure and the entailed high demand of engineers and financial resources bring the construction industry back into focus of public awareness. Especially large-scale projects draw the public’s attention; in particular against the backdrop of bad news: exceeded costs and delays seem to be on the daily agenda. Is it really because we as engineers are overstrained with the projects or only because we are communicating insufficiently despite knowing better? What does it actually mean when a project costs 300 million euros? Are we lacking necessary transparency?

Dipl.-Ing. Norbert Luft, Prof. Konrad Bergmeister and Dipl.-Ing. Dr. Philip Sander share their experiences about dealing with risks of large-scale projects. With Prof. Konrad Bergmeister a renowned participant joins the discussion. As director of the BBT SE Brenner Base Tunnel, he oversees one of the largest infrastructure projects in Europe. Dipl.-Ing. Philip Sander is managing director of RiskConsult GmbH, experienced in supporting organisations and large scale infrastructure projects.

The joint event of Bayerischer Bauindustrieverband, Verband Beratender Ingenieure und VSVI Bayern takes place on May 2, 2018 at Oskar von Miller Forum in Munich. The presentations and discussion will be held in German.
