Arnulf footbridge

37 railway tracks over a width of approx. 240 metres: Experience the art of civil engineering

240
metres of construction length

The pedestrian and cycle bridge connects two city districts: Nymphenburg and Westend.

Bridging the gap between art and mobility

  • Located between the busy Hackerbrücke and Donnersbergerbrücke, it is the first independent cross-track pedestrian and cycle path connection off the main traffic routes in Munich
  • The bridge also provides direct access to the “Donnersbergerbrücke” S-Bahn station.
  • Steel Vierendeel bridge over three spans
  • Together with the orthotropic walkway, the two longitudinal beams form a trough cross-section, which was installed on the north side outside the railway area and inserted over the entire railway system

“Together with the architects Lang Hugger Rampp, we have created a pedestrian bridge with experiential value, a public space that invites people to linger and has long since established itself as an integral part of the Munich cityscape”.

Peter Radl, Head of Road Infrastructure Department in Munich
