  • The Hackerbrücke is an important north-south road and pedestrian link and thus one of the central traffic routes in the city centre of Munich. It is also important for public transport because it provides access not only to the S-Bahn but also to the central bus station (ZOB)
  • It is one of the few remaining arch bridges from the 19th century that are made of wrought iron. It has therefore been listed as an architectural monument since 1973
  • Over the years, damage has occurred to the historic bridge; it will therefore be completely overhauled from 2027
  • As a two-lane road bridge with footpaths on both sides, the Hackerbrücke crosses 26 railway tracks in front of Munich Central Station

The structure consists of six riveted trussed two-hinged arches made of welded steel, each with a supporting width of approx. 29 m. To the north is a three-span vault bridge with individual supporting widths of approx. 13 m.
