30 Years SSF Ingenieure in Berlin

Anniversary of the second oldest SSF Ingenieure AG location

On 1 November 2020, our branch office in Berlin celebrated its 30 year anniversary. At the beginning of January 1990, shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the management of Schmitt Stumpf Frühauf und Partner – then the name of SSF Ingenieure AG – decided to expand its engineering design business to East Berlin and the former GDR.

Through contacts of Christian Ommert, a Munich colleague originally from East Berlin, a collaboration with Bau- und Montagekombinat Ost (BMK) in Berlin was set up. It was agreed to transfer the staff responsible for the design of engineering structures at BMK Ost to SSF Ingenieure. With this initial on-site team and support from the head offices, in November 1990, the Berlin office was founded as first branch outside of the Munich headquarters.

“Today we are looking back at 30 successful years at our branch in Berlin” summarises Victor Schmitt, former director and current member of the supervisory board. “It was an exciting and wonderful time during its creation – and it still is; there is a lot to do. We are happy to see the positive development of the branch and thank everyone who contributed throughout the years.

”By now, around 50 employees work at the Berlin branch. “We congratulate all our colleagues in Berlin to this anniversary and the joint success which was only possible through consistently high performance and quality of our design services” says director Helmut Wolf. “The branch generates around 20% of SSF Ingenieure AG’s overall revenue and with several large-scale projects in the Berlin area its long-term contract situation is looking very good. A circumstance that allows a positive outlook to the future. We will continue with confidence and joy to work at the task of designing and constructing for society.”
