In the flight path to Frankfurt airport, two old bridges are replaced by new ones – one for each direction.
The construction by modular method with a high degree of prefabrication allows to replace the bridges within a minimal construction period and reduced traffic limitations. The transversal structure is comprised of modules, the longitudinal structure of composite prefabricated (VFT®) girders, and the directly drivable concrete does not require sealings.
The new bridges are entirely built next to the old ones and moved into position by transversal launching. The abutments including launching device have already been built; currently, the piles are assembled. Next step will be the lifting of the VFT girders and hauling in of the modules.
